Advanced Features and Quality Build of

The FBT Maxx Series Polypropylene Passive & Powered Speakers

The control panel of the powered FBT Maxx speakers shows the features (some exclusive to FBT Maxx speakers) that you can SEE and TOUCH.

But, WHAT’S UNDER HOOD really matters in reproduction of Superior Sound Quality and Long Term Reliability.

The FBT Maxx Hidden Features

a)   FBT’s Polypropylene Cabinets: FBT Maxx, Jolly, and Amico Polypropylene cabinets are produced using a “Gas Injection Molding Process”. Another FBT exclusive! This Gas injection molding process produces a structurally superior polypropylene cabinet with a denser molecule structure that is sturdy, but yet forgiving against bumps and rough handling, but without flexing. The Gas Injected Molded polypropylene cabinet sounds more like a wood construction speaker cab with robust LF response. All other manufacturers of Polypropylene Cabinet speakers use an Air Injected or Roto molding process that does not produce a cabinet with the sonic quality of a Gas Injected Molding Process molded cabinet. FBT Polypropylene cabinets also have a Honeycomb shaped cabinet interior to make the cabinet extra sturdy. FBT poly cabs have seams where of the 2 pcs. (front and rear) cabinet mate, where a rubber gasket is placed to produce a weather resistant tight seal to keep the cabinet from water /liquid damage and a form an expansion joint to prevent cabinet cracking, etc. due to rough handling or rapid temperature charges.

Example: From a cold vehicle in Winter to a heated venue.

b)   Studio Quality Foam Lined Cabinets: a FBT Exclusive. Again, under the hood, all FBT Polypropylene Cabinets are foamed lined to prevent unwanted sonic resonance from backpressures from the speakers.

Along with the Gas Injected Cabinets, this foam lining helps produce the sound quality of a wood construction speaker.  The sonic quality of FBT speaker cabs overcome the objections from some people that plastic speaker cabs: sound like plastic with overcompensated midrange and not having very good low frequency reproduction in comparison to plywood constructed speaker cabs.

c)      B&C® Woofers and High Frequency Drivers – FBT uses B&C speaker components. Since 1946 all B&C Speakers have been produced in Italy using the finest quality materials. Woofers with Aluminum Die Cast Frames, Neodymium Magnet Structures, Kapton voice coils wound with 99.98% Oxygen Free Copper Wire, High Quality Paper Cones and Quality Adhesives. HF drivers with Neodymium Magnet structures, Titanium Diaphrams and where applicable high density Mylar Diaphrams as used in many high end home Stereo HF Tweeters.

d)       FBT Circuitry: The electronic components under the hood that makes up the power amp circuitry in FBT Power amplification are of the Best Quality Name Brand Components available. Texas Instrument, Fairchild, Elna, Alps potentiometers, Motorola, along with European manufactured transformers and other Surface Mounted Technology electronics with tight tolerances (1-5%) Military Spec are utilized in the amp module circuitry placed on double flooded Mil Spec Circuit boards.

No Cheap Components are used by FBT, Period.

Many Competitors like type models and the many cheap Asian produced knock offs use cheap electronic parts with tolerances of 15%- 25%. What this means is that as the product ages, the excellent factory specs listed on their spec sheets when the product is Brand New, will being to vary as much as 15%-25%!  The sound quality deteriorates, the power amp output rating goes down, and the electronic parts that make up the circuitry tend to fail that much quicker!

Unlike many Competitors models with all of the circuitry placed on 1 circuit board (the power supply, the preamp control circuitry, and the EQ filter circuitry) on a SINGLE CIRCUIT BOARD, which is much cheaper to produce and assemble. But, by placing all of the Circuitry on ONE circuit board, if a critical electronic component fails in the power supply section or preamp section, these shorted out parts can pass DC Current along to the other stages of the circuitry, mainly the power amp section resulting in a completely unrepairable circuit board. You have to junk the whole preamp and power amp circuit, which leads to a very expensive total board replacement.

The FBT Maxx Series powered speakers use MODULAR circuit board construction with independent circuit boards for each stage of the Amp. This modular circuitry construction uses independent circuit protection in Preamp circuit stage, EQ filter stage, and Main Power amp circuit board, so complete total circuitry failures are 99.9% eliminated. If an independent circuit fails, the failures are limited to just that circuit.

e)   Built in EMI/RFI - AC Power Conditioner Filter Circuitry: All FBT Powered Speakers, mixers, power amps have built in EMI (Electrical Magnetic Interference) and RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) circuitry, somewhat similar to a good quality power conditioner. This EMI/RFI circuit helps to protect the FBT product from AC hums and other electric co. power shortcomings and Radio Wave Interference from broadcasters, taxi cabs, cell phones, and wireless microphones transmissions.
