FBT MODUS Compact Line Array Rocks - Crack the Sky, Never Never and Hectic Red Concert
|

Memo from Richard Shaeer, FBT USA Mid Atlantic States Rep
to FBT USA - V.P., Tom Concorde 9/15/08
Good Morning Tom,
Well the Modus system was certainly heard this weekend. I do not have the time to write a
detailed email at this time, but will send you one later if you’d like.
Here is the scoop… There were 4 well known opening bands: Never, Never, Rob Fahey (formerly
of the Ravyns, “Raised on the Radio” hit and featured in the: "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"
movie soundtrack), Hectic Red and Crack The Sky (mostly all original members).
The concert was in what was know by everyone as a very bad sounding room, the Tall Cedars of
Lebanon Hall, Baltimore, MD. which has a capacity of about 1000 people.
All the shows that happen here have extreme difficulty in getting the bands to sound as good as
they should, because it is a very difficult venue to get good sounding audio.
Because of the line up, it was basically a who’s who that were at the show.
The Modus system sounded so good that everyone kept coming up to me and excitedly telling
me just how great the system was, and how great it sounded everywhere in the room.
One of the guys toured with Van Halen starting in 82’ and there were other touring guys as well.
Joe Macri the bass player for CTS was on a wireless and came out front to hear the P.A. and was
blown away that the sound of the Modus system accurately reproduced the stage sound of his
bass as well as the whole band. The many hours that I had spent tuning the system in the past
really paid off, and several sound guys, musicians and industry related personnel wanted to
know what the speakers were! Almost no one had heard of the FBT Modus System.. The band
members, engineers all hung out at the F.O.H. area during segments of the show. I would hear
my name called out, turn around and there was an engineer giving me the "thumbs up". I have
never done a show where so many people have come up to me, and so excited about the sound
of the FBT Modus system.
I believe that everyone came to this hall expecting to hear great bands with awful sound.
Some of these industry guys and patrons must have come back almost a dozen times to tell me
how great the PA sounded.
What we used was a PM 5000 at FOH (attached a photo from another recent show), a complete
Modus System: Modus 15 and Modus 40 2 way Cabs, flown from Genie towers.
The Modus Subs were ground stacked.
I am sure that the show and the system will be the “Talk of the Town” here in Baltimore.
I have attached some poor photos (sorry but this was the best that I could do) for your viewing
pleasure.
Kindest Regards,
Richard
