FBT / QUBE AUDIO Install at Eccentric Studio, N.Y.

Scott Shear’s Eccentric Studio in Ravena, New York, situated in the Catskills, is a multipurpose venue that hosts live
performances, showcases, recording sessions, and rehearsals.

Shear, a guitar player, originally started with the idea of building a place where he and his friends could play music
and not necessarily be in a bar setting as well as provide a place to help support the music community with
workshops and music camps.

He did the majority of the construction of the post and beam structure himself, literally moving a mountain of earth
and stone to clear the area for the venue parking.
With so much versatility in the facility and a need to cover both floor and balcony levels, selecting a sound system
took on added importance. Shear estimates that he’ll be able to get more than 300 people in the main room of
Eccentric Studios, depending on the event.

After many hours of researching sound systems as well as relying on practical experience with other manufacturers
systems, Shear evaluated and ultimately selected powered FBT/QUBE loudspeakers for his facility.

Shear explained, “My cousin, who I work with building guitar amps, had heard FBT and QUBE Audio speaker
systems at a trade show and thought they were outstanding. Along with his recommendation and hearing
the system in action at Eccentric, I chose to go with an FBT and QUBE Audio system.”

The main system utilizes two Qube QSA 112a powered constant curvature line array loudspeakers augmented with
two Qube QSA 118sa 18-inch bass reflex powered subwoofers for the low end.
Several FBT Verve 8ma powered monitors serve as the fill system for the balcony, while five FBT Verve 15ma
powered monitors make up the stages’ monitor system. Shear is also using is an Allen & Heath 32 channel console,
as well as other equipment he brought over from a previous facility, including DBX equalizers and Lexicon and TC
Helicon effects.

I’ve had other speakers before, but none of them sounded as good as this system,” Shear stated.
“The way the building turned out and combined with this sound system, for me, it doesn’t get any better.”
